The 'New World Designs' content management system manages small-to-Medium-Enterprise (SME) scale web sites, intranets & extra-nets.

Our System has been constantly developed over the last 9-years into a flexible modular platform used by diverse organisations across the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, Asia & Australia.

You need no software at all to access this site, just a standard internet connection at your home, office or even your local library with any PC or MAC. You can login at work, work a little, then logout and go home, then login from there and start where you left of, with no files needed to be brought home, just a username and password.

Web Developers - can continue to create new HTML page templates if desired and upload these via an administration interface. Template styles are edited via the administration interface and different styles can be interchanged on each template.

Content Providers - with no HTML or IT skills content providers can manage the content directly into the authoring interface through the WYSIWYG editor.

Content Authorisers - with no HTML or IT skills content authorisers using the systems work-flow system can approve, manage and delegate content via the administration interface.

Access Permissions
Our system provides a tiered permission based interface to offer different user groups levels of information and access. The user's login details define their user type and therefore offers them the correct level of access as defined for their user group.

The systems administrator tools allows these separate user groups to be defined by their work functions and roles and grant the appropriate access levels allowed. 

Typical system users have the following functions:

• Web Developers - can continue to create new HTML page templates if desired and upload these via an administration interface. Template styles are edited via the administration interface and different styles can be interchanged on each template.
• Content Providers - with no HTML or IT skills content providers can input content directly into the authoring interface through the WYSIWYG editor. 
• Content Authorisers - with no HTML or IT skills content authorisers using the system's work flow system can approve, manage and delegate content via the administration interface. 

Text, image and page editor
Our Systems uses a WYSIWYG which stands for "What You See Is What You Get". Its a toolbar very similar to what you get in Microsoft Word that allows you to change text into bold and alter the font type, size and colour.

Content Authoring
Our Systems WYSIWYG authoring editor is fully flexible web content authoring tool to allow web site contributors to easily and intuitively manage content updates.

The systems text editor uses a familiar ‘Microsoft Word’ style editing interface that adheres to both Microsoft and Non Microsoft web publishing standards.

The web content authoring tool allows content managers to:

• Input text content directly into the editing interface and format content with familiar Word editing functions.

• Import any HTML documents. The editor strips non required HTML from the source material to ensure set page template standards are maintained.

• Import content from Microsoft Word documents directly into the editor removing any HTML from the Word document to maintain compliance to page styles and XHTML standards.

• Manage cross web browser compliancy. The WYSIWYG editor supports Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.5, 6.0 and later. It also supports browsers based on the Mozilla engine including FireFox v1.0 and later. It is also fully compatible with Apple Mac platform through OS X.

Managing Images 

Images & pictures can be imported, manipulated, re-sized, cropped and optimised by the system on-the-fly.

All images used for display on a web page by the system is controlled & delivered by the site so the correct image format is displayed onto the page as desired.

Further, the image is drawn from the database and then cached to allow for large levels of traffic to view the web page without impacting web server performance.

This means that the site administrator doesn’t need to manipulate the image prior to upload into the system. The site stores the image at the defined size and resolution necessary for its application on the web site.

Web Page Templates

Creating web templates can offer site flexibility and also support consistency of branding across all communication is paramount when developing a new website structure.

Our system manages multiple levels of template structures to provide web site managers with high levels of flexibility in content display.

These template structures include:

• Page Templates - define the overall structure of the page. They control the position of all content elements positioned on the page and also control the navigation structure. Page template design for your site is primarily defined through CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). This allows global changes to be made to the CSS that can affect all templates without the need to individually update each template.
  
  
• Multiple Templates - We can add as many templates as you wish to the system, allowing a similar site as the BBC for example. They use a similar idea, so all the News is one template, the weather is another and the each channel has its own. This is great for keeping your site active and live looking, without the need for any artistic skill from your self, as we will have preset these for you. All you do is build the page in the usual way, open the template manager, and assign the template to your chosen page, very simple.

• Content Elements - These are the various separate content aspects that are combined in the Page Template to make up the web page. The way Content Elements are arranged dictate the way the page is built and displays, for example - Paragraphs, images, banners, text call-outs, image galleries are all content elements. Within the system, Content Elements allow the site administrator to have flexibility within the page template structure to alter the page display.

• Site & Content Migration - Once the page templates have been defined, it allows for an easy migration of existing content into the newly defined template.

• Site Navigation - Within the system the site structure is defined through the CSS. The the system user can then apply content to a Page Template through the Page Elements. If a user creates a new content area or sub area within the navigation menu the structure of the Page Templates update dynamically to incorporate the new site content area. Navigation style and position is controlled within the template design and offers scalability within the defined structure. New templates created can be uploaded into the system via the the system administration interface.

E-Commerce

Our system has a built in online shopping system which allows you to sell products and receive money through a secure credit card payment Gateway. It needs no software on your PC, you simply just use your browser and access a password protected access panel. Here are some of the many features it possesses.

• Add as many products or categories as you wish (only limit is how much server space you have, but in general it will be in the thousands or products before it will become an issue)
• You can use it as a catalogue only, by turning off the cart features in the admin system
• Unlimited Category/Subcategory Depths and products can be assigned to multiple categories
• Sort the categories the way you want
• Sell down-loadable products like MP3's, Templates, Videos or Software
• Add a thumbnail and full size image to every product via your browser
• Add attributes like Size, Colour, Weight to your products to offer product variations
• Use Product Discounts (percentage/total, time limited or not)

Form / Polls / Newsletters
Our System allows site administrators to create & manage registrations forms or surveys and capture user data into a database.

This captured data can be used to send Newsletters with the inbuilt Mail system, or just for your own marketing and statistic needs.

The newsletter system can send out an email newsletter, to all registered users of either All or a selected category of users. This could be Registered, Paid members or Administrators.

Image Resizing

Our systems dynamic image resizing engine automatically formats images being loaded into the page by the site administrator.

This image resizing feature saves site administrators from having to manipulate images offline in a software to try and fit them into a page template as the image resizing engine dynamically corrects images to required size formats.

Online Chat Rooms

The chat room module allows site administrators to set up and manage online user chat rooms.

Users can register their details with the chat rooms to assign comments to themselves or blind post comments to the chat rooms.

User data captured at the registration process can be utilised for data profiling purposes.

Administrators can monitor and moderate the chat rooms and utilise language filtering in public chat rooms.
