Gunpowder explosions captured in bullet time for artist Sophie Clements, shown as a multi channel installation with Dolby Atmos sound at Dolby HQ in San Francisco.

What Did We Do?

Sophie Clements is a London based video and installation artist whose work has shown at The Barbican, Seoul Museum of Art, the RWA in Bristol, The National Museum of Contemporary Art in Oslo and The Royal Opera House. For this commission we set up a 96 camera bullet time rig to capture gunpowder explosions mid detonation.

The work began life as a commission from Dolby under the working title Attempting to Delay the Inevitable, and became a multi channel video installation with full Dolby Atmos surround sound at Dolby HQ in San Francisco.

It then grew into a large scale video work called Shall I This Time Hold You?, which ran for three months at the Barbican Centre in London. More of Sophie’s work is at sophieclements.com.
