Working with German company 3DS and Orillo, we were asked to create part of an advert for Toyota Europe, using our bullet time rig.
Taking over an entire area of Shoreditch London, with a street closed off, set up a 72 camera rig on an 8-meter radius curve in during the afternoon in 4hrs and had it ready for the night time shoot.
The first position was to capture the male model walking along the street, with very little light. Each set of photos was captured and previewed to the director and 1stAD in less than a minute of the shot. This allowed them to see very quickly if the model was in the correct position, his step was in the right place, the light was correct etc.
We then needed to move the entire rig to the other side of the courtyard, but unfortunately, a lot of Ambassadors and very wealthy people lived in the area, who had all arrived home, driven through the police barriers and parked their cars on the set. So we had to lift the entire rig with 10 guys, over the top of the cars to position it ready for the last two shots, to allow the rest of the video to be filmed without our equipment in the way of the first position. Gutted we didn’t get any footage of us carrying it over the cars, as that would probably have been as good as the advert! ?
In the second position, we filmed smoke coming from the grate, which we pumped in using a smoke machine, and filmed the female model walking through the rig.
