Billie Eilish X Apple Music

Booked at Billie Eilish's own request: bullet time captured live at her sold out O2 show, run entirely from backstage on our gen-locked cine camera video array.

What Did We Do?

We were hired at the request of Billie Eilish herself to capture bullet time moments during the live recording of her sold out Happier Than Ever World Tour show at the London O2 on 10 June 2022. What we did not know at the time was that the recording was for Apple Music.

The cameras sat at the end of the runway, which stretched deep into the crowd, so once doors opened there was no getting to the equipment. That made this the perfect job for our gen-locked video bullet time camera array: 25 full sensor cinema cameras recording continuously in sync, operated entirely from backstage. Nothing on stage needed touching, and no moment was missed.

The footage was cut into the Apple Music film of the show, which was also released in cinemas as an extended cut in 4K with Dolby Atmos. The film was nominated for Best Music Film at the 2023 GRAMMY Awards.

Common Live Event FAQs

Can you shoot bullet time at a live concert?

Yes. The gen-locked array records continuous synchronised video for the whole performance, so nothing needs restaging. We choose the freeze moments afterwards.

Do you need access to the cameras during the show?

No. At the O2 the rig sat inside a sold out crowd and we operated everything from backstage.

Is the footage broadcast quality?

The cameras are full sensor cinema cameras. This footage went into a concert film released in cinemas in 4K.
