Launching the Senna 30 livery inside a restricted zone at McLaren HQ: 74 cameras on a blacked out ring, lifted by ten people every time a Formula 1 car needed to pass underneath.

What Did We Do?

For the launch of McLaren’s Senna 30 livery ahead of the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix, we built a 74 camera, 360 degree rig on a 10 metre blacked out truss inside a restricted zone at McLaren HQ. It is not every day you get to push the famous Marlboro F1 car off set, making the loudest engine noises humanly possible. The ultimate big boy toy.

The hardest problem was getting the cars inside the ring. Each time, the rig had to be lifted into the air by about ten people and held high enough to pass a Formula 1 car underneath. All that lifting stretched and knocked cameras and wiring, which made the post alignment of the scenes a proper challenge. All in a day’s work.

The film was nominated for Best Promotional Film at the 2024 Motor Film Awards.
