Ovo Christmas Party

Ovo's Christmas party at Colston Hall: a 24 camera rig between the main bar and the smoking area, mobbed from 5pm until closing, 400 movies in a night.

What Did We Do?

Bright Events had used us across the previous three years of Dyson parties, Garnier events and more, and booked us again for Ovo’s Christmas party at Colston Hall in Bristol.

They wanted the rig as a focal point of the party, so we were positioned on the top floor directly between the main bar and the smoking area. We were mobbed. The queue got so long that the crowd backed up onto the small pedestrian bridge joining the two sides of the top floor, and we had to pause the rig while it was cleared, because the building’s management did not know how much weight the bridge could hold.

The numbers: set up from noon until 5pm, non stop shooting until midnight, then another hour photographing the stragglers, the bar staff and the management. A group walked in, signed up, posed, shot, watched their movie and walked out roughly every 90 seconds, over 400 movies in the night, each aligned and exported on the fly by our own software running a 24 camera, 3 computer rig. De-rigged, packed and out of the building by 2am. In the kebab shop, feet aching, at 2.03am.
