A one hour setup window in the foyer of Tate Britain: 15 cameras, a live projection, and dozens of bullet time films inspired by Francis Bacon's screaming popes.

What Did We Do?

For the Francis Bacon themed Late at Tate Britain, Nexus Productions asked us to create live bullet time animations inspired by Bacon’s screaming popes. We set up 15 cameras in the main foyer with a one hour setup window, shot gallery visitors through the evening, and projected the results live on site.

We made dozens of films across the night, a digital, modern take on the screaming popes with the visitors themselves as the subjects.

One detail that dates this job: every movie was built by hand on site by our editors. This was 2008, before we wrote the bullet time software that now does the same work in seconds.
