An overnight build on the South Bank for YouTube's Copa90: open to the public by morning, pushed on the YouTube homepage by lunchtime, closed for a press conference by evening.
For YouTube’s football channel Copa90, we built a 48 camera rig inside a huge purpose built marquee on the South Bank of the Thames, directly behind the London Television Centre. Setup started at 9pm and ran through the night, and the rig opened to the public the next morning.
Tourists and passers by were invited in to experience it, with YouTube pushing the event on their homepage to bring people down. By early evening word came that there would be a press conference, so the rig closed to the public and YouTube’s guests came through instead: press, and the social media stars whose audiences the campaign was built for.
Some of the world’s top football freestylers worked in the rig with the public, including Daniel Cutting, helping everyday visitors look incredible in their 360 movies. Over the 12 hour day the rig produced more than 300 movies, running on 5 computers and 4 custom wiring looms.
